Francesco Magaddino lives in Castellammare del Golfo. He loves his hometown, his family, and his Volkswagen Beetle. He has a girlfriend and works as a cashier at a local supermarket. Although he holds multiple university degrees, he cannot find a suitable job in Sicily. One day, he receives a job offer from Milan. While his friends and family see it as an opportunity, for Francesco this possible change comes at a cost.
