NOTE DI REGIA
Recess is a dramatic short film with noir undertones, inspired by a true story and set in a middle school in the province of Bari. Through an interrogation involving a Carabinieri commander, the school principal, and the students after a stabbing that occurs during recess, the film explores the difficulty of confronting and reconstructing the truth when an act of violence takes place. The short stems from the need to observe reality without embellishment, highlighting youth hardship and the fragility of school and peripheral contexts in Southern Italy, where school alone is often not enough to save young people from the environment in which they live.
